Teachers

Alice Swings is thrilled to welcome very special guest teachers Laura and Matty!

Laura and Matty are the directors of Swing Out Adelaide and have over 15 years of combined dancing and teaching experience between them. They have been teaching and dancing together for the last 5 years.

Laura has always been one to bust out on the dance floor, but it was not until 2015 that she discovered swing dancing. She was immediately attracted to the music, community and the magic moments you create when moving with the music. Laura loves teaching and empowering students to move and connect with their bodies and in particular, seeing students’ faces light up when they dance.

Matty started dancing swing in Adelaide in 2010 and instantly fell in love with it. Since then, he has travelled all over Australia and Europe learning various styles of swing-era dances. (Collegiate Shag is an all-time favourite!) He spent two years in London, teaching for Swing Patrol at Victoria Park. He was also a member of Swing Patrol’s performance troupe, the Skyliners, who performed and competed around Europe. This includes a winning performance in the 2017 Savoy Cup in Montpellier. He loves the music, energy and fun of swing dancing, as well as the opportunity to meet wonderful people all over the world!

Location

All classes will be held at Alice Springs Youth and Community Centre Hall, next to ANZAC Oval.
